The Idea

Special ideas are often created during special moments. The following plan (biking the Atlantic Ocean) was created in June 2002, during a crossing from St Maarten to the Netherlands with an over 20 year old motor yacht called Nuovo Pensiera. The two of us were 4 weeks on the ocean. To let you know our plan: it is to cross the Atlantic Ocean by recumbent bike/boat!
Let me explain. French and English rowers have rowed almost all oceans the last 20 years. But only 150 people crossed solo. Raphaela Legouvello even crossed the Indian Ocean by surfboard in 2006.
We only know our Oceanfour who received a lot of news coverage with their crossing in 2004. The Netherlands, however, is a bike country with more miles of bike paths than highways. The ocean has never been crossed by recumbent bike, so this project is completely unique. This is one of the last challenges on the ocean! Impossible?  No!
