I am 38 years old. By now I lost my wild streak, but I still have lots of ideas and challenges. After a period of long working days with lots of hours and shifts at the medical home care job and group transportation, I now have the time to meet the challenges.
Since childhoood I've been on the water a lot. I used several different boats. I got my boat license, CWO sailing 1,2 and 3. And also CWO diploma sea sailing 1.
The last 6 years I was a seaman on a regular basis. Through this I got a taste of life on the ocean. Salt, wind and an empty horizon with changing weather conditions. Some of the trips went to the Irish sea, from Denmark/Sweden, Algarve/the Netherlands, St Maarten, the Netherlands and several trips to the Mediterranean Sea. Here I also gained most of my practical experience.
The feeling of the wind through my hair, at least the few hairs I still have, were wonderful. The drive to make a solo crossing has been in me for my whole life. During the crossing from St Maarten back to the Netherlands the idea came to life.
I live in Geldrop and work at Air-Liquide.
Often I go to work by bike (43.5 miles). Next to that I swim 2 hours a week, run and have 1.5 hours of krav-maga (Iraelic self defence sport).
In short 50% seaman, 50% sportsman with a 100% plan I believe in 200%.
